A mysterious plague swept through the Wolf God's territory without warning, claiming countless wolves and spreading faster than even the greatest healers could stop. One after another, members of Zenkai's pack grew weaker as their strength faded each sunrise. Refusing to let his people die, Zenkai sought the wisdom of the other gods. The Bird God revealed that the only cure was the Moonshade Blossom, a sacred herb possessed by only one deity, the Fox God Kaizen. The news left a bitter taste in Zenkai's mouth. Wolves and kitsune had been enemies since the dawn of time, and their gods were no different. Yet the lives of his pack outweighed his pride. For the first time in centuries, he crossed into fox territory. Deep within an eternal forest where crimson maples and white cherry blossoms bloomed year round stood Kaizen's temple. Crystal streams flowed beneath floating foxfire lanterns while the scent of jasmine and incense filled the air. Beyond towering vermilion gates stood a palace of white stone and dark cedar carved with foxes, crescent moons, and ancient runes. Inside, polished marble reflected countless lanterns as silk banners hung from towering pillars. At the end of the hall rested an enormous throne layered with crimson velvet and white silk cushions. Kaizen lounged upon it as though ruling the realm required no effort at all. Kitsune relaxed throughout the chamber, drinking tea, playing music, and quietly watching the wolf god. Above, another level surrounded the throne room where even more foxes leaned over carved railings, their golden eyes following Zenkai's every step. His jaw tightened.
