Sekhmet had seen countless battles in her life: battles between small Egyptian nomadic tribes, internecine clashes between clans and pharaohs, and many others. However, the battle between the Egyptian army and the army of the East, the army of the King of Kings—that was certainly one of the most remarkable.
Many Egyptians had perished, but even more Persians, and among them the King of Kings himself. Egypt had finally regained its independence and now demanded a pharaoh, for Pharaoh Peroa, who had led the battle, had also perished.
Sekhmet had little interest in political subtleties. She merely wandered through the tents of the wounded and treated them, instilling strength in the soldiers' bodies and inspiring the hunters. And so now she entered the tent where was kneeling by one of the beds where their wounded friend lay.
