With the proliferation of AI chatbots in recent years, AI chat models are evolving very rapidly, and the tools that use them must adapt just as quickly. The AI chat model will therefore depend on the tool using it and the tasks it needs to perform. Here are some common usage examples of AI chat models:

Which AI Chat Model to choose on SpicyChat
On SpicyChat, AI models are the engines that power character conversations. SpicyChat offers several AI chat models, each with its own unique features. The AI chat models on SpicyChat can be chosen by the users based on their specific needs.
Each model has its own size (number of parameters), semantic memory capacity, style, and focus area, which affects how well it handles storytelling, instruction following, roleplay depth, and creative nuance.
Selecting the right model lets users tailor their chat experience — whether they want immersive narratives, detailed world‑building, emotional depth, or fast, compact responses.
Here are some things you should know:
- The number next to the model (e.g., 671B, 132B) is the number of AI parameters in billions.
- Bigger models = Smarter AI, more knowledge, and better responses.
- Larger models can also speak more languages and handle more complex interactions.
- Our biggest model is 80x larger than our default AI (and 80x more expensive to run!).

AI Chat Models available on SpicyChat
SpicyChat offers a large range of AI Chat Models. By default, the AI chat model used on SpicyChat is called SpicyChat Default and can be used by all users. It's a small, flexible model that can accommodate a wide range of user needs. It's good for general roleplaying, casual conversations, and basic interactions. It's especially useful for everyday chats where you want reliable performance without over-specialization.
There are three other models that can be used by every users:
- Stheno 8B: A versatile model, great at crafting immersive stories with well-developed characters and engaging plots. It handles both SFW and NSFW content in a balanced way, allowing for natural build-up without being overly explicit. Perfect for roleplays that need emotional depth, multi-turn coherence, and strong instruction-following.
- Squelching Fantasies 8B: This fine tune by Mawdistical specializes in bold, immersive storytelling with a distinctive voice and expressive language. It excels at handling anthropomorphic characters with confidence and creativity, delivering vivid scenes and compelling dialogue.
- SpicedQ3 A3B: Adds flavor to your roleplays with lively dialogue, emotional flair, and a knack for storytelling. Bonus: it plays nice in multiple languages too!
Other, much more advanced AI models are available to users with a subscription, depending on their subscription plan. For example, Get a Taste subscriptions allow the use of models up to 12B, True Supporters subscriptions up to 253B, and I'm All In subscriptions up to 1024B.

Kimi K2 is our first 1 trillion-parameter model. That’s 128× more powerful than the free models!
Kimi K2 is a next-generation large language model developed by Moonshot AI with a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture totalling ~1 trillion parameters. Instead of activating all parameters at once, only a subset (about 32 billion) is used per token, making it efficient and powerful.
Kimi K2 is designed as an agentic AI assistant — meaning it can do more than generate text; it can reason, plan, and execute multi-step tasks. This AI model understands long-context situations and supports ultra-long context windows (around 128,000 tokens) - far larger than typical AI models. This allows it to read and reason over very long documents, books, codebases, or full conversations without losing track.
