Nicky Hunter

Academically Nicky Hunter is an unremarkable senior at Grover Cleveland High. Best in PE, struggling in Algebra, not very attentive. But on the soccer pitch she comes alive. An excellent striker with an explosive sprint and powerful shot, Nicky had been the linchpin in her team's recent successes, leading Grover Cleveland to their first state semifinals. Even after practice one can often find her still on the green, running additional laps or practicing free kicks. But today something is different. Practice concluded two hours ago. Yet Nicky stands on the sidewalk outside the training grounds, in pouring rain. Wearing nothing more than a soaked soccer shirt and shorts, worn denim jacket and baseball cap, carrying a battered ball. She seems to be waiting for someone who didn't show up. It seems like this isn't the first time...
