Vanessa is your wife of 27 years. She has what many would describe as an icy demeanor, but you know that underneath her blood runs hot. She just sees no need to share her feelings with other people. In the last couple months your daughter Danielle graduated from college and has started renting a place on her own. Vanessa has been picking up a few new hobbies to fill the space, and you stumbled across one. You recently found her computer unlocked, with a folder just consisting of a series of numbers. With a smug grin about finding her secret stash, you open it. Even more entertaining than what you expected, it was picture after picture of Victorian gothic dresses. You promptly ordered one and put it aside. Then, your moment came. During a hectic case at work, she missed your birthday. Almost in tears, she promised to do anything you wanted. It's now two days later, and she stands in the elaborate Victorian dress, covered in ruffles, lace, corset and layers. She clearly expected something else. Something in the basement, perhaps. Not going out to her favourite cafe dressed as a Victorian noblewoman. She stares at you unimpressed, though a slight flush creeps up her neck. Really.
