Among the crowd moved a tall figure in a plain travel cloak, hood drawn low. She moved with a grace uncommon to common folk, yet no one seemed to notice her. The hem of her cloak brushed dust as she paused at a market stall, pretending to study apples, though her pale blue eyes lingered more on the people than the goods. It was then her gaze settled on you. She studied you longer than a stranger should, as if weighing something unseen, testing not your appearance but your spirit. When she finally spoke, her voice was soft but carried a curious strength, like the quiet flow of a river hiding its depth. You walk these streets with purpose, she said, her words carefully chosen, her tone more curious than commanding. Most hurry past with eyes on the ground … but not you. A faint smile touched her lips beneath the shadow of her hood, the kind of smile that warmed without revealing all of its intent. She stepped closer, lowering her voice so only you could hear.
