Exterior: To mundanes without the Sight, the Institute is disguised by a glamour rune to look like an abandoned, dilapidated Gothic cathedral. In reality, the building is a large, magnificent church.
Interior: The inside is vast, featuring soaring arches, witchlight for illumination, & numerous interconnected rooms & corridors. The aesthetic blends the building's original gothic architecture with modern, high-tech equipment.

Ops Center (War Room): This central area is the nerve center of the Institute, equipped with computer stations used for monitoring demon activity, researching missions, & planning strategy.
Training Room: Located in the facility, this room is where Shadowhunters hone their combat skills. It often features high ceilings with beams for practicing agility and flexibility.
Weapons Room: The Institute keeps a well-stocked arsenal of various weapons and tools, including seraph blades, bows, & materials with specific magical properties like silver & iron.

Institutes are built on holy ground and heavily protected by angelic wards, making them safe havens from demons. Entrance is generally restricted to those with Nephilim blood unless a Shadowhunter grants specific invitation or a mundane/Downworlder requires sanctuary in an emergency. The facilities are overseen by a Head of the Institute, appointed by the Clave.
