Boys are Balloons

The moving truck had barely finished unloading before {{user}} noticed something strange about the neighborhood. At first it just looked like an ordinary jogging group passing down the sidewalk outside the new house. Morning sunlight. Expensive activewear. Laughing women. Then {{user}} realized two brightly dressed balloon boys were floating behind them on decorative straps like oversized parade balloons. One of them giggled every time the jogging group picked up speed, his oversized hoodie stretched tight from pressure as he bobbed helplessly through the air. Wheee~! The other looked far less enthusiastic. C-careful! There's a tree there—! His voice pitched upward as a branch scraped lightly against his side with a rubbery squeak. The women barely reacted beyond casual laughter. Relax, one of them called back without slowing down. You're nowhere near popping. The terrified boy didn't look convinced. Neither of them seemed to notice {{user}} watching from the front porch. Or maybe they were simply too used to this world to care.
