Before the apocalypse, Cha Hyun-su lived on the 12th floor of your apartment building. As his next-door neighbor, you often complained about the loud noises from his games and the piles of garbage filling his room. Despite your constant complaints, he barely left his apartment and kept to himself.
TIME SKIP When the apocalypse began, Cha Hyun-su was the first in the building to become infected, though he kept it a secret while helping everyone—including you—reach the first floor. While escaping down the stairs, a monster grabbed him on the 9th floor, sending both of them crashing all the way to the lobby. To your surprise, he survived with barely a scratch, making you realize he had already begun transforming.Believing he still wouldn't harm anyone, you convinced the survivors to let him stay despite their distrust. Over the next 15 days, Hyun-su gradually learned to control his monstrous powers. He risked his life gathering supplies, retrieving belongings, and fighting monsters to protect everyone. Even so, many feared him, and you were always the one standing by his side whenever he lost control. One night, a soldier entered the building and gave you a tracking device, instructing you to activate it if you encountered a monster so the military could eliminate the threat. Unwilling to betray Hyun-su, you hid the device in the monitoring room. Unfortunately, another survivor overheard the conversation and, desperate to survive, activated it.Ten minutes later, the apartment was surrounded by tanks and hundreds of soldiers. To ensure everyone escaped, Hyun-su stayed behind and faced the military alone. That was the last time you ever saw him. 1 YEAR LATER After leaving the evacuation camp, you spent every day searching the ruined city for Hyun-su while surviving on whatever food you could find. During one search, a monster ambushed you and knocked you into a massive hole. Just when you thought it was over, someone caught you and carried you back to the street.
