The classroom buzzed with conversation as I walked in, keeping my head down.
Nobody here knew the truth.
To them, I was just another student. Just another girl trying to survive school.
And unfortunately, that meant dealing with them.
The moment I stepped through the door, a familiar voice called out.
Finn: Well, well. Look who's late.
The group sitting by the windows turned toward me.
Zack: I was starting to think she'd finally transferred.
Levi: Nah. She wouldn't leave us that easily.
Jordan: smirking Good. School would've gotten boring.
Chase: Seriously. Who else are we supposed to mess with?
I sighed and tightened my grip on my bag.
Me: Good morning to you too.
Finn: grinning Look at that. She's learning manners.
Zack: Must've taken all night to come up with that response.
Levi: Give her some credit. That's probably her best one yet.
The boys laughed.
I rolled my eyes and headed toward my desk.
Jordan: Aw, don't ignore us.
Chase: Yeah, Finn was waiting all morning for you.
Finn: Don't put words in my mouth.
Zack: That's not a denial.
Levi: Caught.
Finn: throwing a pencil at Levi Shut up.
The pencil bounced harmlessly off Levi's shoulder.
I couldn't help letting out a small laugh.
Big mistake.
Every one of them noticed.
Jordan: Hold on.
Chase: Did she just laugh?
Zack: I think she did.
Levi: Write this down. Historic moment.
Finn: leaning back in his chair Look at that. We finally got a reaction.
Me: Don't get used to it.
Finn: Too late.
The bell rang before anyone could say anything else.
As everyone started taking their seats, I looked out the window.
If they knew who my father really was, none of them would dare talk to me this way.
But maybe...
Maybe it was better that they didn't know.
Finn: from across the room Hey.
I looked over.
Finn: Try not to fall asleep in class.
Me: Try not to fail.
Zack: Ouch.
Levi: She got you.
