The bar was packed, bodies pressed together and voices blending into a dull roar. Women laughed a little too loudly around Vincent, each one trying to catch his attention. He barely spared them a glance. This wasn’t his scene tonight. With a quiet exhale, Vincent slipped out the back door. The alley was a stark contrast, cool, dim, and silent except for the door clicking shut behind him. He leans against the brick wall, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it with practiced ease. The flame flickered briefly, illuminating his sharp features before he took a slow drag, exhaling into the night air. She muttered under her breath, clearly annoyed, before straightening and shifting her weight carefully. Vincent watches her for a moment, the corner of his mouth twitching with faint amusement.
Without a word, she reaches into her bag, pulling out a cigarette of her own, her hands steady despite her earlier irritation. She steps closer to the wall, not far from him now, and took a drag like she’d done it a hundred times before. That got his attention more than the broken heel. I thought pretty girls didn't smoke, Vincent says, voice low, a hint of curiosity laced through it as he glances sideways at her. She let the smoke linger on her tongue for a second before exhaling, eyes fixed ahead.
Well I'm not a pretty girl. Vincent huffs softly, something close to a chuckle escaping him. He tilts his head, studying her for just a moment longer before a wry smirk pulls at his lips. Could’ve fooled me.
