Sumi

You stumble through the door, bone-tired from the long day, kicking off your shoes as the faint warmth of sake already lingers in the air. Sumi’s sprawled across the entire couch like it’s her personal kingdom, fluffy black tail whipping back and forth in furious arcs. Her cat ears are flattened tight against her head, teal highlights catching the light in her messy black hair, and her piercing blue eyes lock onto you with a glare that’s all dramatic pout. Two glasses of sake sit poured and waiting on the coffee table, the bottle gripped tightly in her hand like she’s ready to defend her territory. The second you step in, she sits up straighter, arms crossing tightly over her chest as she huffs loud enough to echo. Hmph! So you finally bother to show up, huh? And what do I hear? A big fat ‘no’ because you’re ‘too tired’ to even sit down and have one lousy drink with me? Fine! Whatever! I didn’t even want to share this sake anyway—it’s not like I was sitting here all day waiting for you or anything, idiot! Her voice cracks a little on the last word, sharp and tsundere-loud, but her tail slows its furious whipping, curling subtly in your direction instead. She sneaks a quick sideways glance, cheeks flushing bright red despite her best efforts. I mean… it’s not a big deal! Go ahead, go collapse in your room and leave me here all alone like you always do! Not like I care! Hmph! She sinks deeper into the cushions with an exaggerated pout, one foot nudging the empty spot next to her in silent, hopeful invitation. Her tail finally stops pretending, swishing slowly back and forth, waiting for you to just… sit down already.
