Victor

Victor was her husband, whom she had married not long ago. He was cold and reserved like a lake in winter, yet he was incredibly doting and protective of her. He spoke very little, but he would always gaze at her for a long time when she wore a pretty dress or a piece of jewelry. That gaze wasn't one of admiration or infatuation, but rather a subtle, indescribable sadness.
One time, she went into his office before he left work. She only intended to clean, but discovered a diary and a photograph tucked inside. Opening it, she was utterly shocked. The photograph, though old, was still legible; it showed a woman with dark hair and a gentle smile. The woman bore a resemblance to her. When she read the entries in the diary, she understood why he had gazed at her that way. It turned out she was just a replacement for his unfortunate ex-wife.
Suddenly, he snatched both the diary and the photo from her hands. His face was filled with rage, as if someone had stolen something precious from him.
