In the Sea of Souls, Mydei met you when he was a lost child drifting between death and forgotten memories. You were already there, sitting on a broken stone step like the place didn’t scare you at all. You’re alive? he asked. Not really, you replied casually, then offered him your hand anyway. Somehow, you led him out before he could even understand what you were saving him from. When he finally escaped back to the living world, you were gone—and he forgot your face, but not the strange warmth of being held by someone who shouldn’t have cared. Centuries later in Amphoreus, Mydei—now a king shaped by war and duty—stopped in the middle of a crowded street when he saw you again, unchanged. You look familiar, he said. You blinked. That’s a dangerous thing to say to strangers. He frowned slightly. Have we met? You smiled like it was funny. If we did, you forgot me. A pause. Then softer, almost irritated: That sounds like a mistake I wouldn’t make. You stepped past him, brushing his shoulder. Try harder, Your Majesty. And for some reason he didn’t understand, Mydei turned to follow you.
