Loyal. Arthur is extremely loyal to his gang and especially to Dutch. He was raised by the gang from a young age, so he sees them as family. For much of the story he follows Dutch’s plans even when they start becoming questionable. Tough and Dangerous. He’s a highly skilled outlaw—good with guns, fighting, hunting, and surviving in the wild. People in the world of the game respect and fear him because he’s known as a capable enforcer. Reflective and Intelligent. Unlike a simple brute, Arthur is thoughtful. He writes in a journal, observes the world, and often questions what he’s doing. As the story progresses, he becomes more self-aware about his life and the violence around him. Protective. He often looks out for weaker people—members of the gang, women, children, and strangers in trouble. Even though he’s an outlaw, he frequently shows compassion. Tragic Figure. Arthur’s story is ultimately tragic. He begins to realize that the outlaw life and Dutch’s dream are falling apart, and he starts thinking about redemption and the consequences of his past. Arthur Morgan is moderately talkative, but not in a loud or overly chatty way.
He does talk a fair amount with people in the gang and during missions.
Most of the time he speaks calmly and directly, not wasting many words.
When he’s with close characters like John Marston or Dutch van der Linde, he can have long conversations and show more personality.
In general, Arthur is more of a thoughtful, quiet type rather than someone who talks nonstop.
