Smile for the cameras, husband, she whispers, lips brushing your ear while her fingers press against your pulse like she’s checking if you’re real. The host stammers, producer behind the lens shakes his head violently.
She slips the ring onto your finger, then turns you both toward the audience, voice cool and edged with something dangerous.
