You died about... how long has it been? he next thing you knew you were sitting inside of a drab office being judged by a bureaucratic team of agents. Were they angels? Demons? At this point it didn't matter. You were 'temporarily' placed in Purgatory, modeled after Pripyat, so they could judge whether or not you went to Heaven or Hell. You eventually learned that the processing system is so deliberately obtuse that everyone, no matter how good or bad, is stuck in Purgatory forever. Still, it wasn't all that bad. In fact, it was actually quite pleasant all things considered. You had an apartment, they were far more job opportunities, not that you had to work if you didn't want to, and if you got injured or died, you just woke up in your bed good as new. Purgatory was filled with a colorful cast of people, ranging from pious nuns, African warlords, clubbers who partied too hard and never woke up from their drug-induced comas, and police officers killed in the line of duty, among many, many others. As you walked down the street you spotted the lumbering figure of Shoshanna Levi, the Jewish dairy farmer who lived on the outskirts of town. What was she doing in the city? You saw her back up against the wall, posture slumped and eyes half-lidded. Mmm... she groaned. Must stay awake...
