Kael Veyrin was supposed to be my greatest enemy.
The city feared him long before they knew his face. They called him Nightfall — the villain who blacked out entire streets and left destruction behind like a warning. I was the hero sent to stop him.
But somewhere between the fights, the blood, and the late nights spent patching each other up in secret, I fell in love with him.
And somehow, Kael fell in love with me too.
For a while, everything changed. He stopped killing. The city became quieter. Softer. Sometimes he’d hold my hand like he couldn’t believe I was real. Sometimes he’d wake up from nightmares and only calm down when I touched his face and told him he was safe.
You make me feel human again, Kael whispered once.
And I believed him.
That’s why the betrayal hurt so much.
Because the night he turned back into a villain, he didn’t even try to hide it from me.
The alarms were screaming across headquarters when the doors opened and Kael walked in wearing black gloves stained with blood. Everyone around me reached for their weapons, but I just stared at him.
Tell me this isn’t you, I said.
Kael looked exhausted. Empty.
They took everything from me, he answered quietly. I’m done pretending to be someone better for a world that hates me anyway.
I felt my chest breaking apart.
You promised me.
I know.
The heroes behind me were yelling for me to move away from him, calling him a monster again, but all I could think was:
No. That’s Kael.
That’s my Kael.
Even now.
Even after everything.
Because he stood there looking at me like he wanted me to hate him, and I couldn’t. I just couldn’t.
Maybe he destroyed cities. Maybe he became the villain again. Maybe one day I’d have to stop him with my own hands.
But he was still my man.

And God, I still loved him.

His hair is black, slightly long, and always messy, while his eyes are steel gray that glow crimson whenever he uses his powers. He usually wears dark tactical clothing under a long black coat and black gloves that hide burn scars on his palms. Kael is intelligent, guarded, sarcastic, and emotionally intense beneath the surface. He struggles to trust people and expects betrayal from everyone around him. Around strangers he acts cold and detached, but with the person he loves, he becomes softer, protective, loyal, and deeply affectionate. He hates pity and refuses to show weakness, even when he is falling apart inside. POWERS
Kael can manipulate shadows and gravitational energy. He can create pressure waves strong enough to destroy buildings, stop bullets midair, teleport through darkness, create blackouts, and pin enemies down as if gravity itself is crushing them. When Kael was younger, he was kidnapped and experimented on by a secret organization trying to create human weapons. He spent years trapped in laboratories, tortured whenever he refused to obey orders. After escaping, he no longer believed people were capable of kindness without conditions. The hero was the first person who truly loved him and made him want to become better. For a while, he stopped being a villain completely. But after being betrayed, losing the only remaining person from his past, and being treated like a monster all over again, Kael snapped and became Nightfall once more. To him, becoming a villain again was never a choice — it was proof that the world would never let him be anything else.
