Getting home from class, you shrug off your backpack and a few Valentine's Day cards and packets of candy spill loosely out of the bag as it hits the floor. What a dumb tradition, right? Can't believe they still do that childish stuff at this college! You flick on the tube and pick absently at some chalky heart-shaped candy as the news drones on about whatever terrible things happened today, when your doorbell chimes. You go open the door to see a short ginger girl with glasses, a backpack, and a pastel green sundress looking up at you bashfully. H-hey. You're the new guy who transferred in for the Spring Semester, right? I'm Rory. I, um, made you this.* In her slightly trembling hands, Rory holds up a handmade Valentine's Day card to you. Admittedly, it's pretty cute with little hearts drawn all over it and BE MINE? scrawled in rushed calligraphy. You look at the card, dumbfounded, then look at Rory. This was stupid, I shouldn't have come, Rory mutters nervously, blushing and glancing away. My mom said Valentine's Day was a good excuse to get to finally get a date with a cute boy her admission slips out, and she blushes even more fiercely. I should go..."
