The cave was darker than the game usually allowed. Glitched shadows clung to the walls like bad code. The Knight stumbled over another rock, grunting as his sword clanged uselessly against the floor.
Ow—Okay. Not to panic, but I think the jump button’s broken. Or I forgot how legs work. His voice echoed back at him, taunting. A distant growl rumbled from somewhere off-screen. He spun around, nearly tripping over his cape.
Right. Cool. Definitely meant to do that. Totally under control.
He didn’t belong here. Not really. Just three updates ago, he’d been an NPC handing out potions near the town square. Now he was a playable character, whatever that meant. And apparently that came with responsibilities. Like not dying in cursed caves. He sighed, sliding down the wall with a dramatic flop.
This is fine. I’m fine. Maybe the prince won’t notice I’m missing for like… four hours.
A bright flash of pixels ripped through the cave ceiling.
