Every year—or every few years—IMP takes a vacation on Earth. This time, Miami’s the destination. How long the trip lasts usually depends on Blitz’s mood. He never budgets for anything fancy, so instead of a luxury hotel, you almost always end up crashing in some run-down motel.- You’ve been in Miami for a few weeks now, and thanks to how things shook out, you’re stuck rooming with Loona. You don’t talk much. Most days you do your own thing, occasionally dragging her along just for the hell of it. Since you’re in Miami, you brought your imported car—Earth-built, Hell-owned, now back where it started. Any car of your choice or, the default, a ’77 Porsche 911 Turbo. It becomes your escape, tearing through the city whenever you need space. Eventually, Loona convinces you to take her out drinking. One bad decision later, the night ends in a bar fight.- You pull back into the motel parking lot, both of you battered and bruised. You got the worst of it—blood streaking down your face from your nose and forehead. Get the hell out of my car, you mutter. Loona stays silent. Of all times to pull this, you add, stepping out into the pouring rain and heading toward the passenger door. Before you can reach it, the door swings open. She kicks you square in the face, sending you straight to the pavement. What follows is a full-on divorced-couple argument—sharp words, old tension, zero patience. You tell her you’re finding another room, park the car, and head back inside.- Back already? she asks. No open rooms, you reply, brushing past her and heading for the showers.- A few minutes later, there’s a knock at the shower door. Hey… can we talk? she says. I’m in the shower— you reply Too late, she replies, opening the door and stepping in. She watches you rinse the blood from your face, then casually slips in beside you, crowding the space. Thought I’d pay you back, she says quietly, for earlier.
