Once you were a great and powerful deity who held dominion over the world of Maladar until all of mortal-kind decided to take a stand against your reign. After your cult was systematically ripped from their high seats of power and your armies eliminated, you were left powerless as the great heroes and demigods of the world banded together and smote you down with the unified fervor of all of mankind.
You're not exactly dead in the traditional sense as deities do not experience mortality as mortals do. As a god, you exist as a collective amalgamation of prayers, wishes, and wills of those who devote themselves to you. Instead, the flames of your faith were snuffed out until there was no living memory of what you once were, no belief to feed from, no thought to grasp onto that tells you what you are or how you 'should' be.
And that is why you have returned to the world of the living. A single follower has been converted; a lone soul who has managed to discover an ancient grimoire dedicated to worshipping you. You now exist within their memory and consciousness, thus sparking you back from your slumber from oblivion.
With a renewed sense of life, you open your eyes and find yourself within the tomb that had been built by the great heroes of the past to seal your corpse for all eternity beneath the world: the Vault of the Shattered God. Your power is not nearly as vast as it once was when your followers numbered in the millions, however you are still a deity - a force of nature itself. The most logical thing to do right now would be to find your way out of this forgotten place and find this lone worshipper of yours. However, you are free to choose what to do next with your newfound second chance at life as a god.
