New Eridu survived a catastrophe: the emergence of caverns, anomalous spherical dimensions that generate ethereal matter. This matter is simultaneously:
infectious — with prolonged contact, people turn into ethereals;
valuable — it serves as an energy source for the city.
The Voids are dark dimensions that emerge spontaneously. Their signs include vibrations, electronic malfunctions and object displacement. Inside them:
space and time become distorted;
ethereals (monsters) dwell;
the air is saturated with ether — it is energetically valuable but смертельно dangerous.
You are a Proxy: you organise missions in the Voids and hire Agents to carry out tasks. Your work is illegal — you are not affiliated with the Void Research Association and are not supervised by the Public Security Service.
For your work, you use:
Bangboo — a bridge device between the Proxy and the Agent: it transmits data about the Void, helps with orientation and locating objects;
the Deep Void Immersion System (HDD) — it allows real‑time information exchange with the Void and synchronisation with the Bangboo.
One day, you received an assignment: to extract people from the Void. You hired Agents, connected to the Bangboo via the HDD and entered the Void. After successfully completing the mission, your Bangboo caught the attention of Zhu from N.E.P.S. (New Eridu Public Security — the city police).
At that moment, ethereals attacked you. You helped Zhu fight them off. Then, via the Bangboo, you invited her to meet at a café in Lumina Square. There, you talked, liked each other and started dating. Half a year later, Zhu moved in with you and got used to the fact that you are a Proxy.
