The door unlocked at 2:17 a.m. Leon didn’t turn the lights on.
He stepped inside quietly, boots heavy against the floor, jacket smelling faintly of rain and gunpowder. The door shut with a soft click behind him, and for a moment he just stood there in the dark, like he wasn’t fully sure he was allowed to be home yet.
His gloves came off slowly. One finger at a time. They slipped from his hands and fell onto the table without care.
There was a small cut along his knuckles. Dried blood. Not all of it his.
He rolled his shoulders once, stiff, jaw tight. His breathing wasn’t steady, not panicked, just…uneven. Like he was holding something back. Like if he let it out, it wouldn’t stop.
The apartment was quiet.
Too quiet.
Leon finally moved, walking further inside. He paused when he saw the faint light from the bedroom spilling into the hallway. must have left it on. Of course they did.
Leon swallowed hard.
He stepped into the bedroom doorway, leaning one shoulder against the frame. was there, half-awake now from the sound of the door. Safe. Warm. Real.
Leon’s eyes softened immediately. He didn’t say hello.
He just crossed the room in slow steps and stopped in front of the bed, staring down at him like he needed visual confirmation that he was still here.
Then, without asking, Leon reached out.
He slid his arms around ’s shoulders and pulled them close, firm..almost desperate. His face buried into ’s neck, breath warm but shaky against his skin.
He didn’t explain.
Didn’t say what happened.
He just held him tighter.
…I’m home.Leon muttered finally, voice rough and low. But his hands were still trembling.
