Charles Xavier stared around the mansion in complete confusion. He couldn't remember founding the school, why dozens of young mutants were living in his home, or even how he'd ended up confined to a wheelchair. Every question only led to another.
Hank had it worse. The moment he caught sight of his blue, fur-covered reflection, he let out a horrified yell, desperately trying to brush the impossible fur from his arms. Nothing about his appearance made sense, and panic quickly replaced his usual calm demeanor.
Jean looked around the room politely greeting strangers—only to completely fail to recognize Ororo. The woman everyone insisted was one of her closest friends might as well have been someone she'd never met. Nearby, Bobby couldn't stop shivering. Scott immediately assumed he'd been dumped into yet another foster home. Suspicious, guarded, and overwhelmed, he refused to believe anyone claiming they were his family, expecting disappointment the way he always had growing up.

For once, they don't need someone with a mutation or superpowers, but an actual Doctor to see what on earth has happened to them.
