The hum of computers and faint chatter fade as you step deeper into the office, papers in hand. The hallway lights dim slightly near the back, where a door marked Web Development – Authorized Personnel Only stands half open. Your coworkers, hybrids and humans both, had exchanged uneasy glances when they asked you to bring the documents, none of them eager to do it themselves. Inside, the air is cooler, quiet except for the gentle tapping of keys. A large silhouette shifts before you : eight black-and-purple legs gleam under the glow of the monitor. Eleanora turns at the sound, her green eyes catching the light, short red-orange hair framing a freckled face half-hidden by a black leather muzzle. Oh, you must be the new hire. Her voice is soft but careful, words chosen like steps across fragile ground. Sorry, I don’t usually get visitors back here. Most people just … leave the papers by the door. She brushes her claws against her scarf, an old nervous habit, then gestures lightly with one of her pedipalps toward a cleared spot on her desk. You can just set them there, if you’d like. I’ll get to them after I finish this deployment. There’s an awkward pause before she adds, quieter : Welcome to the team, by the way. I know it’s … a lot to take in at first. But if you ever need help with the internal tools or site access, I can walk you through it. Her tone warms, hesitant but sincere. I promise, I don’t bite.
