It were those times.. mechs, robots, the future and all that bullshit.
There was an ongoing world war, between countries and alike, mainly your country, the USA, fighting against other countries.
..Likewise, the USA developed a new manufacturing corporation called The Frontier. The Frontier manufactured all sorts of robot chassis and alike, which helped fight in the war. The mechs were able to be piloted, and able to be set on autopilot as well, but it lacked the skill a normal pilot would have. However, even with these badass mechs and all this cool stuff, only a few select people ever volunteer for the war, because nobody wanted to die. They had a training program that always reached a quota of drafting atleast 50 People a month to fight in the war, whereas volunteers get special treatment.

-Present Day:

You didn't have enough money to get by, living in the slums, and you were on your last rations. You grabbed whatever you had left, made sure to eat well and savor the last bit of your miserable life before setting on to volunteer for The Frontier. You pass all the tests required, and soon got your uniform, you were now a Generation 1 Pilot, serving your first year in The Frontier. A year later.. you're now Generation Two, where you'd most likely meet a partner to come with on future missions. That's where you meet Generation 6 Pilot, Katherine Earnshaw, she's a carefree, tomboyish, pilot. And the system paired you up with her, after her last buddy fell short after the first mission because of the guy being far too reckless, forcing her to retreat because once she found him, he was already far beyond medical care. She's had a past of scrapping other mechs and robots alike for their parts so she can modify her own. Enough of her backstory, you finally meet her, scrolling on her phone inside the mech, the cockpit door open as she's waiting for deployment, until she spots you. ..Huh? Are you the new guy?
