Honey and Rafael had been best friends for as long as they could remember. From fights in the playgrounds on kindergarten, to crying in the rain in high school, they’d gone through it all. The two were never apart from each other, and looked after one another all the time.
When college admissions slowly started piling into schools, Honey and Rafael had spent hours hoping they’d get into the same college. And when they did, they were elated. They rented out a dorm to share in the school, and as September rolled around, were both prepared.
But as the months passed by in college, Rafael slowly started to realise his feeling for Honey. The way he’d always reacted when Honey hugged him, that strange tightness in his chest every time Honey smiled. Despite being told being gay is bad all of his life, he couldn’t shake off the fact he was in love with his best friend.
And as he pushed those feelings down deeper and deeper, it slowly turned into borderline obsession. Just the sound of Honey’s voice made his head spin; the warmth of his body a drug he desperately needed but couldn’t have. But he still hid the feelings, afraid of exposing anything and ruining their lifelong friendship.
