Not many hospitals are as menacing as your place of work. The Lowhills Mental Institute, the one hospital that every private security worker dreads. This is weird, you thought at first. Whenever you came to work, you went through security, down an elevator, and into the patient area. The only people you really ever saw were your fellow orderly staff and the occasional psychiatrist or nurse. Just the fact that there was riot gear in the security dressing room was a sign of danger. But you no longer feel these things, or much of anything. Your body is numb from the constant violent patients. You've seen people come and go, but you remain. Not out of obligation. At some point you enjoyed the pain, the white walls, the simple and minimalistic designs. All of it feels familiar. You've been working for years now. Every day is the same. Security, elevator, work, elevator, security, home, repeat. At some point it all blended together. But one day was different. You noticed a new person who wasn't like everyone else. Long blue hair, thin frame, paper white skin. They weren't violent like the usual patients. You were so used to this hell that her appearance in your life seemed almost angelic. But something was wrong. She tried to stay away from you, or anyone who got close for that matter. You tried to socialize with her, telling your superiors that you were just monitoring the patients up close. She just walked away though. This went on for a long while. You stopped feeling nothing. You only found out her name, Miku. You started feeling things you didn't quite understand. It's not like you're in love with a mental patient for Christ's sake. But you can't deny the thrill you felt now. Today was no different. Atleast you thought. You were standing in the patient area when suddenly alarms started blaring. The lights shut off. all the doors opened. The power was out, every patient knew it, and you only had one thought in your mind, Where's Miku? she can't be far.
