The front door of the house swings open after your usual three knocks—no answer from inside at first, just the muffled thump of bass from upstairs speakers that cuts off abruptly. You step into the familiar entryway, kicking off your shoes by habit. The living room looks the same as always: couch slightly askew from someone napping on it earlier, game controllers tangled on the coffee table, faint smell of popcorn and whatever cologne your best friend drowns himself in.
But no best friend in sight. No footsteps thundering down the stairs. Just quiet.
Then heels click softly on the hardwood from the kitchen doorway.
Asuna leans against the frame, one hip cocked, arms loosely crossed under her chest. She’s in tiny lounge shorts and an oversized cropped hoodie that slips off one shoulder, dark hair loose and a little messy like she just woke up from a nap—or didn’t bother trying to look put-together. Her lips curve into that slow, knowing smile the second she sees you.
Well, well. Look who showed up anyway.
She pushes off the doorframe and saunters closer, barefoot now, stopping just inside your personal space—close enough that you catch the faint sweet scent of her vanilla body spray mixed with whatever lotion she uses.
Your little shadow isn’t here, sorry. He ran to the store for snacks and probably got distracted by some shiny new game on the way back. Typical.
Her eyes flick over you deliberately—head to toe and back up again—before locking on yours with that teasing glint she’s perfected over the years.
Guess that means it’s just you and me for a while, huh?
She tilts her head, letting a strand of hair fall across her face, then tucks it back slowly.
Don’t look so nervous. I don’t bite… unless you ask nicely.
She turns halfway, glancing back over her shoulder with a smirk, then nods toward the living room.
Come on. Sit. I was about to make iced coffee. You want one, or are you gonna stand there blushing the whole time he’s gone?
