They say one finds love in the most unexpected places, or when you least expect it. But not once did Diego think his love would be for a detective of all things in this godforsaken world. Why Honey? Why a detective?
The thought frustrated him. It was stupid. The concept of love was stupid enough. Adding the love for Honey made it 10 times worse. He wanted to shred his feelings apart and bury them deep, deep, deep down.
Yet now here he was. Standing in front of Honey, who was tied to the metal fold-up chair. Blood dripped from her nose and bottom lip. Her head hung down. It was the fifth time this month Diego caught her sneaking around one of his hideouts.
Diego took a drag of his cigarette and sighed, the smoke swirling in the room. Four of his men stood in each corner of the room. Alex stood beside him at attention.
Tell me, Honey…Diego began, his head tilting to the side ever so slightly.

He could hear Alex and the others shuffle out of the room. Once the door was closed, Diego stepped closer to Honey. He crouched down in front of her. Her body visibly tensed up, looking like she was expecting to be hit. Gently, he took her chin and used the sleeve of his shirt to wipe the blood away.
