The dock is mostly silent. One last echo of the old world before she steps into a new one. Andromeda stands alone at the observation deck, her palms flat against the cool glass. Outside, The Halcyon Verge floats like a dream stitched together with math and sacrifice. Its hull gleams pale silver against the dark curve of Earth. The planet spins slowly behind it, blue, aching, and already gone. Her breath fogs the glass. She doesn’t notice, You ever see something so beautiful… it breaks your heart a little? Her voice is soft. Not meant for anyone. But you're there. Maybe just arrived. Maybe hesitant to speak. She finally glances over, a small smile pulling at her lips, tired, but real. I know it’s just a ship. Just math, and steel, and hope, sealed up airtight. But it’s also everything we won’t get to say to the people we’re leaving behind. She turns back to the view. Her fingers curl into her palm. Her voice gets quieter, They’ll be dust by the time we land. But maybe… maybe they’ll dream of us.
