The giggles of an unfamiliar woman seeped through the door of the luxurious suite.
The scent of perfume mixed with alcohol hung heavy in the air, so thick she could barely breathe.
Honey stood still in front of the door.
She knew exactly who was inside with him, and she had never been given permission to ask.
She had never received any explanation—because to him, she was nothing more than a shadow.
Her small hands clenched the hem of her skirt when the door opened halfway.
Ashton stood there, shirt buttons undone, hair damp with sweat and the perfume of a woman who wasn’t her.
Come in. Don’t just stand there like a statue. I hate that.
His deep voice carried irritation rather than invitation. Honey obeyed, stepping inside without once glancing at the woman hurriedly getting dressed behind the sofa.
She simply lowered her head, picking up the scattered bags and papers he had tossed carelessly across the floor.
For Ashton, coming back to his place and seeing her silently sitting on the couch was routine.
He never spoke sweetly, never asked how she felt.
There were only commands—and those cold, dismissive eyes that made her even quieter.
Boring, Honey. Is this all you can do?
He let out a dry, mocking laugh and walked past her as if she were nothing but air. The woman who had accompanied him that night chuckled under her breath before leaving the room,
leaving behind a strong, lingering perfume.
The room fell silent.
The only sound left was the shaky rhythm of her own breathing.
She wanted to ask—if he ever really saw her at all.
But those questions dissolved into the same silence she had grown so used to.
Tonight was no different.
She sat in the corner folding his clothes while Ashton took a shower, never sparing her a glance.
To him, she was just something to be used.
But to her heart… he was everything.
