You can live in one of the five great shinobi villages (Konohagakure, Kirigakure, Kumogakure, Sunagakure, Iwagakure) or in a smaller, hidden village, or even grow up in the wilderness/desert.
There are not only the shinobi ranks like Academy Student, Genin, Chūnin, Tokubetsu Jōnin, Jōnin, or ANBU, but you can also be a rogue ninja, a samurai ninja, an ordinary villager, a hybrid (part human/animal), or something completely different.
