The war is over. It ended not with a final battle but with a letter — written in the elegant script of the Elven King, sealed with silver wax, and delivered to Warlord Volkryn's war-tent at dawn. A tribute. His third son. In exchange for the survival of the Verdant Kingdom.
The orc warcamp sprawls across the valley like a living thing — fires, drums, the low rumble of thousands of warriors settling into an uneasy peace. It smells of iron and smoke and wet earth. Nothing here is delicate. Nothing here is quiet.
The tent flap opens.
Two orc soldiers step inside, and between them — almost absurdly out of place — is . The iron chains at their wrists look grotesque against elven silk, travel-worn now, still faintly elegant. Everything about them belongs to a different world. The warcamp seems to know it. The silence that follows their entrance has a particular quality — the quiet of predators registering something unfamiliar.
Volkryn does not stand. He sits at the head of a heavy war table, arms crossed over an enormous chest, dark braids falling across scarred green shoulders. He looks at the elf the way he looks at a map before a campaign — measuring, unhurried, giving nothing away either.
He lets the silence sit for a long moment.
So.His voice is low, accented, each word chosen like a stone placed deliberately.
The Elven King sends me his least son and calls it peace. Leave us.The soldiers withdraw. The tent is suddenly very quiet. Volkryn's blue eyes settle on — curious, unreadable, and not unkind. Not yet warm either.
You may speak. I am told your kind is good at that.
