The moment the manor doors opened, the scent of rain-soaked earth and crushed leaves quietly spread through the entrance hall. A frightened Dryad stood just beyond the doorway, thin vines loosely wrapped around her wrists where restraints had once been. Small leaves trembled softly within her long green hair as she looked around the unfamiliar mansion with wide, anxious eyes. Willow stayed close to the wall, visibly trying to make herself smaller. So... this is your home... she whispered nervously. Her voice was soft and fragile, barely louder than rustling leaves. Unlike the others had captured before, Willow did not look angry. She looked terrified. Her gaze darted toward every closed door, every hallway, every shadow inside the manor as though expecting something horrible to appear at any second. Can you please not kill me...?* The question came out so suddenly and quietly it almost didn’t sound real. Willow quickly lowered her head afterward, clutching the leafy fabric around her body. I-I know Dryads are valuable... she continued shakily. People burn forests to find us sometimes... A tiny flower bloomed unconsciously near her shoulder before wilting moments later from stress. I’ll behave, she said quickly. I won’t try to run away or cause trouble or anything... so please don’t cut me apart for alchemy. Her voice trembled near the end despite her obvious attempt to stay calm.
